Grant Process FAQs

Please see answers to frequently asked questions below. If your question isn't answered here, please feel free to reach out directly to us! You can also join our virtual office hours or schedule a 1:1 appointment by visiting our Application Resources page.

  1. Are grant application cycles open annually or more frequently?

Currently, the St. Clare Foundation has one grant application cycle that opens annually. The typical timeline that the grant application window is open is from November to January.

  2. When is the grant application deadline?

The 2027 grant application cycle's deadline has not been set yet, but the grant application window will open in November 2026 and close in January 2027. Check back later in 2026 for updates!

  3. What happens if I miss the application deadline?

Unfortunately, the St. Clare Foundation does not accept late applications. Please consider applying again in next year’s cycle!

  4. Who is eligible to be considered for a grant?

Non-profit, tax-exempt organizations operating in the St. Clare Foundation’s service area are welcome to apply for grant funding. This service area includes Marion County, Jefferson County, and surrounding counties (Clinton, Washington, Fayette, Perry, Franklin, Wayne, and Clay). Non-profit organizations applying must be in good standing with the IRS and have up-to-date tax filings with the IRS.

  5. I am an individual seeking financial assistance. Am I eligible for a grant?

Unfortunately, St. Clare Foundation is unable to provide grant funding directly to individuals.

  6. Where do I submit my grant application?

Applications should be submitted electronically via the application submission form provided on our website during the grant application period. If you have any trouble with this link or need different accommodations, please reach out to Clare Kessler at ckessler@saintclarefoundation.org as soon as possible. The grant application cycle is currently CLOSED, so we are not accepting any submissions at this time. The 2027 cycle will be open in late 2026.

  7. When will my organization hear about the status of our application?

All applicants will be contacted regarding a final decision on their application within 8 weeks following grant application deadline.

  8. If my application is denied, can I apply again?

Absolutely! Applicants who are denied are welcome to apply again in the next grant cycle.

  9. Who do I contact with additional questions?

Applicants should contact Clare Kessler with additional questions via email at ckessler@saintclarefoundation.org. Applicants are also encouraged to attend virtual office hours during the grant application period to ask questions and discuss their application.

  10. What are the reporting requirements for grant awardees?

Grant awardees are subject to reporting requirements, including monthly check-calls, written quarterly reports, and a written final outcome and impact report. Please see the reporting requirements section for additional details.
